Once again Mirfield Show proved to be a phenomenal success!
Glorious sunshine made sure this full to capacity show was enjoyed by all. Simon and his stall were set up to allow people to meet him and put any enquiries to him. Of particular importance this year was highlighting the objections to the planned Tesco store on the site of the Black Bull public house central to Mirfield town centre, with business and residents alike strongly opposed to the store going ahead. Simon is supporting the community in objecting to these proposals and giving the local people a voice in their fight against Tesco. As well as highlighting local concerns Simon raised over £70.00 in donations to his popular ' Dave the Bear ' Help for Heros raffle.
Meanwhile our Mirfield Town Council Mayor Patricia Sutcliffe, along with her army of Volunteers, raised a tremendous sum for her chosen Charities this year : Matrix and The Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme. Local school children were invited to join a competition to design a card. The winner will be switching on the Christmas Lights in December for Mirfield as well as being chosen for the pack of cards put together by Pat. Along with the cards more money was raised through collection buckets and a Tombola - this proved so successful Pat had to close it down while she replenished her stock!!
On behalf of Pat and Simon we would like to thank all who donated to each worthy Charity and to all our Volunteers who helped make the day such a fabulous success.
